What Happened: The Masters FINALLY teed off.
We kid, but the start of the tournament was delayed due to inclement weather. As a result, those starting later in the day may not even finish their round, and would have to finish up on Friday morning.
Why It Matters: More time to get in that last minute bet? Why the hell not!
Scottie Scheffler (+425) is the overwhelming favorite from the field so we aren’t going to point you in that direction. But we’re happy to throw out some long shots we like.
Sam Burns (+8000) has five wins on the PGA Tour, although he’s kinda stunk in majors. Justin Rose (+22500) has finished top-25 at the Masters 14 times, so he’s familiar with the course and pressure that comes with it.
We covered Keegan Bradley (+25000) and Nick Dunlap (+30000) for our subscribers yesterday (join FCS for the good stuff!), and we’ll throw out Macon, Georgia native Russell Henley (+6000) as another to keep an eye out for.
How We’re Feeling Today
A little relieved, but also a little conflicted.
It certainly looks like superstar Shohei Ohtani is the innocent party in his gambling/interpreter/wire transfer scandal, and wasn’t involved in the shady shit himself.
Great day for MLB, blah blah blah. Ohtani being cleared of any wrongdoing means no punishment is coming his way, ensuring he’ll stay on the field for his new team.
Which only makes a Dodgers World Series more likely. No one wanted to see America’s pastime stained with gambling smut again, but c’mon, we don’t wanna root for the front-runners either, do we?
The Look Ahead
De’Aaron Fox POINTS + ASSISTS – This game has major implications in the Western Conference playoff race, and the Kings need to win to have any chance of escaping play-in game territory and securing a spot in the playoffs proper. For that reason, we think Fox (33.5 P+A) will put up big numbers tonight. He dropped 33 points last game and 40 less than a week ago, plus he’s averaging 5.0 assists a game in April, so we think he can get over his line tonight.
Bo Horvat SOG – The Islanders are clinging to a playoff spot, but any losses can see them tumble from the Metro’s third spot to out of the picture entirely with the logjam that is the Eastern standings. Tonight, they get a Canadiens team that bleeds shots on goal and have nothing to play for. Games like these are why the Isles acquired and locked up Horvat for the long-term, so we like his chances to drive play tonight and get over 2.5 SOG.
