An all-time NBA great might be looking for a new team…
…while an NFL one isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.
LeBron Sweepstakes Begin
What Happened: It took one game more than many thought, but the Nuggets terminated the Lakers’ season, taking the opening round series in five games behind another Jamal Murray game-winning shot.
Did this also bring an end to LeBron in LA? Speculation began as soon as the final whistle blew about the all-time scoring leader’s plans for the 2024-25 season.
Why It Matters: LeBron has long dreamed of playing with his oldest son Bronny, who just so happened to declare for the 2024 NBA Draft. So, what teams are best positioned to potentially land the James Boys?
Right now, the betting odds favor LeBron’s current team, the Lakers, to retain their superstar (+250, per Bookies.com.) And what do you know, DraftKing draft odds peg LA as Bronny’s likeliest destination as well at +350.
But there are other intriguing options for Papa James. Do the Spurs (+500), coached by the legendary Gregg Popovich and with their new franchise centerpiece Victor Wembanyama appeal? Or perhaps Bronny getting drafted by the Knicks (+900) prompts a return to the East Coast to run with Jalen Brunson.
How We’re Feeling Today
Proud of Travis Kelce for finally pulling his weight.
Kelce has had a nice run on the field the last two seasons, but his better half, an indie musician that has found some recent success, has been paying his ticket. It’s obvious and nothing to be ashamed of.
No more! Patrick Mahomes’ favorite target just earned himself a 2-year, $34.25M extension with the Chiefs. Now the Pro Bowler can pick up a dinner tab every once and a while.
Behind every great man is a great woman, goes the saying. Be sure to thank Taylor and the Swifties, Travis. They just got you paid.
The Look Ahead
Jarrett Allen POINTS + REBOUNDS – With the Magic-Cavs series deadlocked at two games, we’ll turn our attention to the home team, and who we expect to step up with the series momentum at stake. Allen is averaging 17 points and nearly 14 rebounds in this series; he’s taken double-digit shots in three of the four games, and twice grabbed 18+ rebounds. His line for tonight is 28.5, and his series averages tell us he gets there.
Brock Nelson POINTS – It’s now or never from here on out for the Islanders, who find themselves down three games to one against the heavyweight Hurricanes. Nelson has been on plenty of playoff runs with the Isles and delivered time and again, notching 37 points in his last 51 postseason games. New York forcing a Game 6 is one thing, but we like Nelson to find the stat sheet in another big spot.
